The More-Than-Human Lab kāhui, or flock, was founded by Associate Professor Anne Galloway and is based in Reikorangi and the School of Design at Victoria University of Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.
In Te Reo Māori, kāhui refers to “a swarm, flock, cluster, herd, or company.” At any given time, the More-Than-Human Lab comprises a diverse constellation of humans, animals, plants, materials, and both tangible and intangible forces.
We are committed to our role as “critic and conscience of society” and conduct all our research in accordance with VUW’s values and commitments, including our Treaty of Waitangi Statute (pdf), Equity and Diversity Policy (pdf), Human Ethics Policy (pdf) and Environmental Policy (pdf).

“Maybe it’s animalness that will make the world right again: the wisdom of elephants, the enthusiasm of canines, the grace of snakes, the mildness of anteaters. Perhaps being human needs some diluting.”
